For some reason, 'International' popped into my head as the make I wanted to have. I looked at and turned down a pretty rough KB-2 that was for sale (it had rust holes in the fenders, the running boards were ready to fall off, the inner fenders had rusted through in a few places, the wiring was bad, etc.) and was considering a Chevy. I finally heard about a man about 50 miles north of us (near Fall Creek, Wisconsin) who supposedly had a KB-1 for sale. We finally got ahold of him and set up a day to come look at the truck. The truck was at an old farm down in a valley . To get there, you had to drive up on top of a ridge, and then turn off and go down a dirt road into a small valley, where the old barn and sheds were. On the way down the road, there were old rusted scouts sitting on each side of the road. This man liked binders. At the bottom of the hill was a pile of IHC cabs from the 40's and 50's and an old Dodge military truck. Inside the barn, the man must have had ten or twelve old VW cars and pickups from the late 60's and 70's, all which he was planning to restore someday.... The KB-1 was sitting sunken down in the dirt floor about 6 inches, but there was hardly any rust on the whole vehicle... of course when you want to buy something, your mind makes it look a lot better than it really is. But still, this was definitely a great deal for $300 dollars, since it had a solid body, good interior, decent engine, etc. Of course,2 days later it was home and sitting in my driveway.
