Date: Sun Jan 30 2000 Time: 17:29:08 Title: Pa's Scout Story: My '77 Traveler was purchased by my grandfather new in early 1977. I was born in September of 1977 and through the years grew up with the Scout as a part of my life. When I was a baby my mom and grandma would go out into our little truck patch to pick fruit or vegetables and I would play the back of the Scout in my playpen. When I was around 12 my grandpa taught me how to drive in the Scout. By age 14 I was backing trailers. There were many good times had in that Scout everything from going on vacations, to hauling firewood, to pulling tree stumps. Unfortunatley my Grandfather passed away when I was 15, but my Grandma kept the Scout for me to use, and drive when I wanted. I used it for my Landscapong business I had while in high school. About two years ago I began to restore all of the sheet metal to original condition. In December I graduated from Penn State University, and on Graduation day, I got a card from Grandma, when I opened the card I found the title for the Scout. Alot of people question why I am putting so much time into fixing up my old binder, but to me it is more than just a truck, it is a part of my life. Contributer: Mike Herbert |
