They didn't have trash pick up that far out so everyone had to haul our trash to the community dumpster, also about half the roads were not paved so I would get stuck in the mud when visiting people who lived WAY out in the boonies. Well, I got tired of the car smelling like a landfill and getting stuck in the mud, so I spotted this '75 Scout half cab in Augusta for $550 and hauled her home. It had a 304 V8, glass packs & white 8 spoke wheels and a bench seat. Ugly as a bulldog and but it was the coolest vehicle I'd ever seen. I had always been a car man, but that truck made me a 4x4 nut from then on. I drove it for several years until the transmission began to slip. I sold it to a hard core off roader. I saw it one other time and it was completely covered in mud so I knew the old Scout was happy. I was born & raised in Nashville, Tn so I was a considered a city slicker preacher in a country church until I got that old truck. I could pull onto any farmers property, even go out and meet them in the cow fields, in that old Scout and talk to them about the Lord and they would listen because they figured if I was in an old 4x4 IH I couldn't be all bad. Almost 75% of the men in the that town drove trucks or Jeeps so I was "in" with my old beater. Since then I've had 2 cherokees, a CJ7 and a Wrangler. I'm here to say, nothing beats a Scout & I can't wait for the day that I can find another one for sale that won't break my budget as we are now serving as home missionaries. I still.....
