By 1973 there was real incentive to own a farm pickup since farm fuel (purple gas) could be bought at half the regular price. A new pickup was out of the price range but a local business man had this 59 B-110 that we had seen around for awhile and knew a bit about. For the sum of $500 we now owned a truck. It was always pretty useless in mud or snow with the heavy front end and that powerful BD 264 just wanted to spin those rear wheels. The "Power-Lok" differential just meant that both wheels would spin and you would go sideways. A few years later we upgraded to a Dodge "Dude" but the old B-110 stayed around. I sent the engine out for a major rebuild about 76 and drove it several more years. Last licensed in 84, it saw only occasional use and the paint took a beating as it sat outside in the Sask. sunshine. At last it is now sitting in the machine shed out of the weather. It was the first in a line of IH trucks that included a 72 Scout II, a 71 Loadstar 1600, a 57 S-160, a KB-3, not to mention my brothers L-130 and L-150. Hooked on IH? I guess so.
